EL PROGRAMA DACA: IMPACTOS SOCIOECONÓMICOS Y TERRITORIALES

RESUMEN

En 2012, se crea en Estados Unidos el Programa Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA, por sus siglas en inglés), el cual significó una política inmigratoria de alivio para los infantes indocumentados que llegaron desde 1981 y eran menores de 16 años, ante el riesgo de ser removidos o deportados. El objetivo fue conocer los impactos sociales y económicos de DACA, mediante el análisis de las estadísticas del programa y una lectura crítica de la literatura generada durante los primeros cuatro años, tras de haberse puesto en marcha esta política pública. Se presentan los datos por continente, país de origen y estado de residencia. Principales hallazgos: el Programa de Acción Diferida ha impactado principalmente a jóvenes inmigrantes procedentes de América Latina en un 96.2%; particularmente, a 604,312 ciudadanos de origen mexicano, que representan el 81.0% del total de casos aprobados, en un universo de 24 países cuya ciudadanía joven ha recibido este beneficio por una o más ocasiones.

ABSTRACT

In 2012, the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals (DACA) program was created in the United States, which meant an immigration policy of relief for undocumented infants who arrived since 1981 and were under the age of 16, risk of being removed or deported. The objective was to know the social, economic and political impacts of the DACA, through the analysis of the statistics of the program and a critical reading of the literature generated during the first four years, after having implemented this public policy. Data are presented by continent, country of origin and state of residence. Main findings: the Deferred Action Program has mainly impacted young immigrants from Latin America by 96.2%; in particular, to 604,312 citizens of Mexican origin, who represent 81.0% of the total number of cases approved, in a universe of 24 countries whose young citizenship has received this benefit for one or more occasions.
